I sent a lot of packages each month by FedEx Ground. FedEx very often damages some of the packages. It almost look like someone is kicking packages around or maybe even stepping on them.
Here is what really pisses me off. FedEx very often declines any claim for damage. They put different reasons, for example not adequate packaging. But here is how the process works.
- Merchandise is damaged (small damage, where one replacement part could be sent).
- Client files FedEx claim
- FedEx comes and pick up the package from client for inspection.
- FedEx declines the claim for not adequate packaging, but doesn’t return the package to client.
- FedEx sends the package back to us (sender) and completely damages the whole content during the return shipping. The outer box is already damaged. FedEx opens, inspects and doesn’t pack the content well. We end up with completely destroyed shipment and further financial loss.
Instead of small damage. We get completely destroyed goods. We could send a replacement part to customer, but now we have to send everything.

Im with you, My problems have been a little different. Im a District Manager for a national company. We pay weekly. The checks are mailed from California to 26 states via fed ex every week. At least every 6 weeks our checks are lost but turn up later. How can you explain that to 47 employees? But all fed ex will do is pay back the cost of shipping. They will not address the problem. anyhow, Im off my soapbox.
I totally agree, they are the most incompetent company I have dealt with in a LONG time. I think the only way to resolve problems with Fed Up is to tell companies that use them exclusively that you can’t buy their products because they use Fed up as a carrier. I’ve never had problems using UPS or the post office. DHL is pretty crappy too but at least they don’t hand out your personal information like Fed Up drivers do.
Companies use them because Fed up gives them money back for using them. They have to pay off companies to use their ‘services’! I think that damaging packages, giving out personal info and refusing to deliver to your house because the driver is a jerk isn’t much of a ‘service’. AVOID FED EX…they are the WORST company out there.
