As the old saying goes, sometimes it’s the little things in life that mean the most. That can be true when it comes to recognizing your employees for a job well done. Granted, a good compensation plan goes along way in keeping your employees happy and motivated, but providing a little extra incentive also works wonders.
Finding ways to recognize your employees do not have to cost you alot of money. However, an effective recognition program should show fairness, be highly visible, and consistent. What you choose in terms of the award is only limited by your imagination.
Some possible ideas may include giving:
- Dinner certificates,
- A trophy or plaque,
- Movie passes or video rentals,
- Office pizza party,
- A “top achiever” ribbon,
- A reserved parking space,
- An extra paid day off,
- Bonus miles for airlines, and
- Cash bonus
Remember that the actual reward is only part of it. The giving of the reward should be a highly visible event as well. Consider presenting the reward at a gathering of employees, and by recognizing the award in your company newsletter or Intranet site.« Return to all articles
